  1. Just for the Halibut: recipe for awesome

    June 10, 2011 by copywronged

This sign that I saw in San Diego, CA contains so many elements of awesome, it’s hard to list them all:

    Punny title? Check.

Creepy illustration of a halibut, which is one of the freakier fish on the planet (partially owing to the fact that it has two eyeballs on one side of its head)? Check.

Absolutely no suggestion as to what this store might offer? (It is a halibut-centric diner? A bait-and-tackle shop? A frozen seafood retailer?) Check.

Unfortunately, the storefront offered no clues:

I dare you to make less sense.

And just in case you were wondering, yes. Yes, we did drive around that entire strip mall in hopes of finding Just for the Halibut. And no, we never did.

I wish I had been in the room when they were brainstorming a name for this place:

“We need a name that not only makes customers think of soup, but one that also subtly suggests slavery …”

    “I’ve got it!”

Dear Patrons of The Barnes Museum:

    Nyah-nyah nuh-nyah-nyah!
